Stonemason

Stonemasons work with a range of materials such as limestone, sandstone, bluestone, slate, marble and granite and may be involved in the design and manufacture of kitchen bench-tops and bathroom vanities, or specialise in ornamental work such as commercial stone facades for new construction projects, fireplaces, banker masonry and carving.

They may repair and maintain historical buildings and monuments, or produce architectural features such as window frames, lintels, archways and ornamental garden pieces.

Stonemasons were some of the most sought after tradespeople with the establishment of the Swan River Colony with many of its first buildings being made out of locally quarried limestone.
