An architect combines creative design with a wide range of technical knowledge to provide integrated solutions for built and natural environments. Building design today involves teams of people with diverse skills, knowledge and experience.  The architect designs the building fabric and coordinates the input of the specialist consultants in the team.  As well as coordinating a team of specialist consultants and working closely with clients, builders, tradespeople, government bodies and local councils, an architect must also be able to design and coordinate very small and very large projects with the same attention to detail.

This occupation isn’t just about drawing. Architects breathe life into a building.  Can you imagine creating unusual, interesting, well designed buildings that last for decades, or even centuries? Are you inspired by structures like Gaudi’s La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, the Sir Norman Foster "gherkin" in London or even our very own Sydney Opera House?  If you are, then you might like to find out more about becoming an architect.
